Muffin, one of our favourite breakfast/snack/dessert item, is a cup-like quickbread or flatbread. It has both North American and European origins. Muffins can be sweet as well as savory.

As an Indian, my love for anything sweet made me go for the choco-chip muffins from Karachi Bakery(Gachibowli branch).
Even though the muffins were moderately moist and dense, it had a soft and spongy texture to it. The best part about the muffins was that it wasn’t too sweet. There was a tinge of salt in it which enhanced the flavour even more.
It is a pack of 8 muffins priced at Rs. 156.
For people thinking of a healthier alternative, you can replace the wheat flour/cake flour/maida(as we call in India) with rolled oats flour, use unrefined oil or pure white butter and add no extra sugar or replace sugar with jaggery. And try to use unsweetened dark chocolate instead of a milk chocolate/sweetened dark chocolate. I can assure you that this will taste as good as the muffin you’ll buy from any bakery.
But always remember that a healthier alternative is not just about using the so-called ‘healthy’ products. The key is to stop at the right time, whether it is healthy or unhealthy.
So, if you want to try the Karachi Bakery muffins, go ahead and buy some for yourself. But remember not to hog it all.
