SO. THE SKY KITCHEN, FILM NAGAR, HYDERABAD

Located in Film Nagar, So. The Sky Kitchen is a roof top restaurant with an absolutely beautiful and pleasant ambience. And on a cool, breezy evening, your mood will just get better here!

Being a multicuisine restaurant, this place offers a great variety of North Indian, Mughlai, Italian and Asian delicacies.

So.The Sky Kitchen is on the terrace of a three storeyed building, right above Little Italy. Even though the ambience is lovely, the view from the terrace is not that great. The simple decor has a very ethnic vibe to it and the plants in every corner makes this place really soothing!

The items we ordered for dinner were:

Tandoori Broccoli

To start with, we ordered Tandoori Broccoli! Marinated in curd and other Indian spices,
the broccoli was perfectly roasted and tasted amazing! Being a non-vegetarian, I usually don’t order vegetarian items in a restaurant but this item stood out the most for me out of all the items ordered! The quantity was also good for a starter. But I still feel the price could have been a little less.

Assorted Chicken Kebab Platter

The Assorted Chicken Kebab Platter had two pieces of Bhatti-da-Murgh, four pieces of Murgh-e-Tandoor, and four pieces of Murgh Malai Kebab. All the kebabs were extremely delicious, my favourite being Bhatti-da-Murgh. The kebabs were flawlessly charred! The tender and juicy meat simply left me wanting for more!

Blueberry Maple Mojito

Not one of their best mocktails. I have had blueberry mocktails before, but this tastes exactly like a cough syrup. Initially, I thought I felt so because the syrup was very concentrated. But even after diluting it, the intensity of the artificial flavour didn’t reduce! I was very disappointed with this drink.

Lababdar Sizzler

We were really excited for this particular dish! The chicken in the sizzler was yet again very soft and the gravy had a tangy-creamy taste. The rice was moderately flavourful. But the sizzler was so hot that it literally burnt most of the dish. We could only eat the top part and had to ask the restaurant to replace it with some other item. They were considerate enough to replace it with the next item on this list, the Lucknowi Biryani.

Lucknowi Biryani

We ordered Hyderabadi Dum Ki Biryani but they didn’t have it. So, we had to go with ordering the Lucknowi Biryani. The biryani tasted very average. The mutton was well cooked and tender but the taste of the biryani rice was very average. There were too many mint leaves in it which became irritating after a point.

Grilled Chicken Breast with Lemon, Garlic and Herbs

Even though the grilled chicken was overcooked and chewy, and the mashed potato being horribly mashed, the mushrooms and the lemon-garlic sauce just nalied it! It was SO good! The mashed potato, especially, was a let-down!

Sizzling Bowl(Inspired by Korean BIBIMBAP)

The sizzling bowl had a fragrant and flavoursome combination of bell peppers, paneer, shitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, peanuts, and button mushrooms. We chose udon noodles as the base and spicy basil as the sauce. The dish was served in a granite bowl which took us back to the old and serene times! The presentation of the dish was on point! We were more than satisfied with this dish!

Value for Money: 4/5

Trifle

We had lots of expectations from the Trifle! A Trifle, traditionally, has thin layers of sponge cake soaked in wine or juice, fruits with custard or pudding. Firstly, there were no layers. Only fruits were there mixed with a very liquidy custard, which was topped with coconut flavoured whipped cream!
However, the cream was extremely light and tasty. The fruits were also very fresh but I can literally have that from a roadside fruit stall or some small café, who I am sure will make it much better and will sell at a much cheaper price!

Price: 325
Quantity: 3.5/5
Value for Money: 3/5

There were a few hits and misses. The hits were amazing and the misses were equally disappointing! But overall, we had a really good experience there.
